ABOUT JOE TAYLOR, PRESIDENT
During his nineteen years with Union Carbide, Joe was involved in many aspects of the chemical business, in the capacities of Customer Service Manager, Account Manager, District Sales Manager, and Distributor Field Sales Manager. In January, 1976, Joe started M. J. Taylor Chemical Company with the help of a friend. Joe bought out his partner in October of 1980 and moved from Rockmart to Atlanta, Georgia. The company's first business partnership was with Rhodia Silicones out of France, who needed someone to introduce and sell their silicone products in the Southeastern United States. It was during this period that M. J. Taylor Chemical Company started manufacturing silicone emulsions and compounds and became predominantly a manufacturing company. In 1990, under the leadership of Drew Taylor, a state-of-the-art, 30,000-square foot building was constructed to house the manufacturing, technical, and administrative operations of M. J. Taylor Chemical. In 1998, Amber Holdings, P.L.C., part of Caledonia Investments (a United Kingdom investment trust listed on the London Stock Exchange) purchased M. J. Taylor Chemical to become a part of their worldwide organization. Joe Taylor retired. By the year 2000, Joe realized that, as he so succinctly phrased it, "he had flunked retirement," and started TayChem Industries as a sales and marketing company. As of 2008, TayChem is a supplier to domestic and international customers. Joe and his associates continue to do what they know best -- servicing the silicone needs of old friends and making new friends all the time!
